So the line that will be drawn begins! I'm curious, what do you guys think? In terms of the arguments of both sides.

Which side is right? And how do you think California Supreme Court ruled?

What kind of response are you looking for?
In a moral sense, I side with the doctors completely. They should not be forced to perform a procedure that violates their religious belief. There are (apparently) other doctors in the field that do not feel their conscience violated for performing such a procedure. Therefore, the patient had other options. Plus, this procedure was not life-threatening/life-saving. If Benitez was dying, then I would probably say that the doctors had a duty to save her... but this is -- as was pointed out -- an elective procedure.
Now, on a more "technical/legal" side, the doctors were violating a California law -- now, this is not to say that the law is "right" -- but a court's duty is to apply the law, not question the validity of the law. Having said that, it is the legislators' and our duty as the public to make sure our legislation is "right."
