Notre Dame commencement wasn't isolated

Two articles and it's funny that they both "intersected" so to speak, at the Notre Dame commencement that President Obama spoke at.

First article: A great article about how it got to that point and the state of the majority of "Catholic" universities and colleges in our nation. While reading this article, keep in mind a few posts back about the agenda of the "billionaire's club" and what they want to put their money towards. Also note that another name for the Society of Jesus is Jesuit. Assistant General is like their vice president. Congregation of the Holy Cross is the order "running" Notre Dame. America is a Jesuit magazine.

Second Article: Yes, it's our President again! It's funny because if you think about it, it seems like he's redefining morality and ethics for himself. If he doesn't like what he hears, fire the people that said it and hire new ones that tell you what you want to hear. He says the now-former bioethics council will be replaced by one that offers more "practical policy options." As suggested in the article, I'd suggest you guys look at the website of the former council before they take it down and see all the accomplishments of this council and how practical they were for policy!! Also, try and keep an eye on who he puts in this new council, since it's probably not going to be big news at all.

Linking these two articles together, it's actually really scary. President Obama has quite of few "Catholics" around him that's he's appointed. Unfortunately, they SEEM to be "Catholics" who agree with many of his views and stances that are in direct contradiction to the Catholic Church, something like those colleges and universities. I'm sure it's trickled down to some of the high schools too now.

This might be a tangent... but I've thought a lot about the ND debate and what constitues a true "Catholic" identity, whether it's strictly personal or can be institutional (outside the Church), outwardly or inwardly defined, and so on...

There's this group called CL that I think is a really liberal Catholic lay group, but approved by two Popes. If any of you are familiar with Fr. Corapi, CL is the opposite of him. Anyway, I am a little troubled with this, and I don't know what to think.

This is CL's response to ND's situation:

This is what the ND newspaper wrote about it:

I've heard of CL (Communion and Liberation) as well, but never really looked into them or what they do. I would say they're a group and like all groups, there would be a spectrum of people in there, even if the group on the whole was approved by two popes.

Take the Jesuits as example, they were approved by a few popes, silenced and practically (I don't think they were officially) condemned by another pope and now there's a HUGE spectrum in there, from some who actually honor their 4th vow of particular obedience to the pope to basically straight open rebellion against the pope and even the Magisterium.

I found the comments to be an interesting discussion...

anyone know more about CL?
