I dunno if you guys have heard this random story about the Miss USA competition. Miss California got up and she was asked the question, "What do you think about gay marriage?" And she responded, "In my country, and in my family, I believe that a marriage should be between a man and a woman."
Talk about courage. She came in as first runner-up. That question probably cost her the crown. And now she is getting torn up in the media. But I think this is a beautiful example of standing up with courage for what you know is true. She did not compromise. She did not act 'tolerantly'. She said what she knew was right and she did it with charity.
I think she's a good modern day example of what we are called to do, especially in place where our message of truth, our faith, is least likely to find fertile ground - like high school. Have courage...

as the media firestorm continues to develop, I gain more and more respect for this woman. the judge who asked her the question responded later with anger and hate, not to mention name calling. although we may be attacked for our beliefs, we must respond with love and understanding, and as ms. Prejean has showed and continues to show, with honesty and courage as well.

welcome to the land of the free so long as you conform yourself to the political climate, and the home of the not brave enough to stand by their beliefs in public.
Wow, I find it ironic that it's broadcast as a "battle." And indeed so, Ms. Prejean is treating Perez Hilton as an enemy! (by praying for him!). And dude, to get called names for stating your opinion which was ASKED FOR!
She definitely has more courage than I. I think I would have folded and gone the "politically correct" route.
Good thing she wasn't asked about her views on abortion cause if she's against it, she might have been called a terrorist too! Haha! Have you guys seen this?
